Matusow Finally Gets a Suckout

Mike is behind with his top pair to two pair on the flop but decides to get into a raising war with the two pair which put his opponent almost all in ($25 behind) on the flop. Turn opens up some draws and the last $25 goes in with the river making Mike's straight draw and winning him the pot.

Mike's a great player but I'm just wondering... why play a big pot on a dry flop with multiway action when the big blind could easily have any two pair? Is the guy really going to go nuts and make a third bet with medium pair?
What's wrong with calling the flop and reassesing on the turn? Unless the guy has exactly 7 there's no real draws that have more than a 10% chance of hitting.
